The village was looking proudly over the green river banks. The streets were straight and divided it in perfect squares. In the middle, the vast place was hosting the market and gatherings of the village people. The river was running in the north, and south there was the big South Forest. Haedaules was asleep under the tree. It was early morning and the soft, warm rays of the sun from the north-east were tingling his face. One couldn't say if it was the sun rays or a dream giving him the astonished expression on his face. Suddenly he started mumbling, his face took a frightened look and his entire body jerked as in pain. Haedaules woke up confused, his heart pounding and with cold sweat between his shoulders. One minute later he shrug it off and started heading to the village. As he walks his face grows more and more thoughtful and he steps absentminded. He hits an obstacle which seems to startle him and looks up. It was a man draped in a brown cloak with his face covered completely. The brown cloaked man whispers: 'Again ?' Haedaules looks up surprised. He wasn't expecting the tall man here, in the big, busy, square place, full of people going back and forth. He lowers his eyes and replies: 'Again...' The man summons him to follow and inconspicuously heads to the big building north-east of the central market square.Haedaules follows in the distance. Nobody would have thought he follows the tall, brown clad man, when he entered the hall of Kandaon. He quickly washed his hands and disappeared among the thick wooden columns. The tall man appeared again and tied a white piece of linen around his eyes and directed him gently through a hidden corridor. After a while the man took off the white cloth from around Haedaules' eyes and looked at him inquisitively... Haedaules woke up again... He had been here only once or twice and every time he was amazed and intrigued by this hall. 'Ah... well... How did you know...' asked Haedaules 'One of my people saw you walking... as in a dream' answered the tall man. The brown robe disappeared and now he was donning a white linen robe which created a special hallo around him in the sparkling light from the sun. He appeared as bathing and being one with the light. His eyes were still looking curiously to Haedaules... 'hmmm I suspect you want to tell you what I dreamed this time... I don't know why you care so much..' Headules answered The tall man remained silent, his eyes staring more and more inquisitively at Haedaules... ' there were people on horses... This time... A band or an army... I do not know... They had armors and weapons... They were approaching the river... Advancing fast toward the bridge...' A slight line of concern appeared on the tall man's face.. Only to disappear a second later... Haedaules continued: 'When all of a sudden from our side, an army of... Well... Wolves appeared and attacked the warriors on the bridge... two pawed wolves... You'll think I drank too much at the yesternight's party...' A slight knowing smile appeared on the tall man's face just to disappear as fast as the concern line earlier. 'What really scared me...', continued Haedaules, 'Is that... When I looked at one of the wolves... It was me... I could feel the rugged wolf skin on my body... And it was something else...' 'What ?' asked the tall man. 'the rage...', answered Hedaules, 'I never felt that... The rage... I was thirsty for blood... The smell of blood was pleasantly enraging... I wanted to get rid of riders... I didn't even know them...' 'And... Did you like it...?', asked the white robed man Haedaules looked frightened at the tall man. 'No... I... Don't know.. May be... No!' he yelled..... I want to go now!' Haedaults' eyes filled with tears... 'No! I couldn't like that... Tell me I couldn't... Tell me nobody does...' The tall man turned his head, tied again the white linen cloth around his eye and pushed him gently toward the secret corridor again... |
